Christmas Tree Lighting Walk – Holbrook’s to the Hall (Sun. 3 Dec, 2017 4:30 pm - 5:30 pm)

Walk from Holbrook’s through the village, where local community groups will have several trees to light up the holiday season.

Walk ends at the Hall for a potluck dinner. Dress warmly and bring flashlights.

“Mission to Mars!” (Thu. 7 Dec, 2017 1:30 pm - 2:30 pm)

Ever wonder what it is like on Mars? Come to People Plus on Thursday, Dec. 7, 1:30 pm, when Dr. R. Aileen Yingst introduces us to the Curiosity rover and take us along on her remarkable journey through Gale Crater on Mars!

Dr. Yingst, a resident of Brunswick, is a Senior Scientist at the Planetary Science Institute, a research institution headquartered in Tucson, AZ. She is Associate Principal Investigator on the Mars Exploration Rover Mission and Deputy Principal Investigator for the Mars Handlens Imager instrument on the Mars Science Laboratory rover Curiosity. She is also an associate on the Dawn at Ceres mission. Other missions that Dr. Yingst has worked on include Dawn at Vesta, Mars Pathfinder, Mars Polar Lander, and Galileo. Dr. Yingst served as Director of the Wisconsin Space Grant Consortium for 14 years.

Dr. Yingst received her AB from Dartmouth College in Physics and Astronomy, and her M.Sc. and Ph.D. in Geological Sciences from Brown University.

Melinda will review the origins of her candy company, The Island Company. Her family inspiration and legacy led her to bring an Orr’s Island tradition back for a new generation.  And the best part…she will treat us with holiday samples!

Bath Festival of Greens (Sat. 9 Dec, 2017 9:00 am - 4:00 pm)

The Bath Garden Club is holding its second annual Festival of Greens on December 9th, 9:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m., and December 10th, 9:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m., at the Winter Street Center, 880 Washington St., Bath.  Featured items are wreaths, swags, floral arrangements, tree ornaments, vintage items and much more.  Refreshments will also be served.  Proceeds to benefit the many project that the bath Garden Club sponsors.  FMI 666-3078
