Local Farms – Local Food (LFLF) and Maine Farmland Trust (MFT) will present the new film Growing Local on Sunday, January 25th at 5:00 pm at Frontier Cinema in Brunswick. The film will be followed by a discussion of the film and current food and farm conditions in our community.

Growing Local was created jointly by Maine Farmland Trust and Seedlight Pictures. The film highlights both the vibrancy and the growing pains of the local food movement in Maine, and the uncertain fate of the farmers and farmland that keep it alive.
LFLF is a partnership between the Brunswick-Topsham Land Trust and Kennebec Estuary Land Trust to conserve farmland, increase local food production, and promote a more resilient food system in the southern midcoast region. This event will launch a short film series being presented by LFLF to engage the community on local farm and food issues. Free screenings of food and farm films will be presented in Bath, Brunswick, and Topsham, followed by discussions to solicit community input on questions such as where local food is being grown and consumed, who in the community does not have access to local food, and what farm and food projects seem most or least promising.
