“A Vintage Film - T-Ledge”
The initial “First Thursday” Program for 2017 at the Orr’s Island Library will be the screening of a vintage film in the library archives, Objectives of T-Ledge Camp for Girls. T-Ledge Camp was founded in 1928 by Mrs. Nell Barnes and operated into the 1970’s. The archival film is a compilation of colored film and stills from the 1940’s and 50’s and 60’s. NB,as she was known, ran a successful camp for girls which was primarily for horseback riding, but also offered sailing and other water based activities, taking advantage of its location on Harpswell Sound on the west shore of Orr’s Island. NB’s original poetry and original sound tracks from the girls singing in the dining hall in 1955 are highlights of the film.
