SUMMER SPOTLIGHT SERIES AT CURTIS MEMORIAL LIBRARY

SUMMER SPOTLIGHT SERIES AT CURTIS MEMORIAL LIBRARY

Date: Tue. 2 Aug, 2016 7:00 pm - 8:00 pm
Duration: 1 Hour

Mark your calendars and join Curtis Friends and Curtis Contemporaries for a remarkable new series. Our NEW Summer Spotlight Series is an opportunity for us to feature prominent and respected Mainers - and focus on issues that speak to human freedom, personal and social responsibility, the connections we have with each other and the obligations that flow from our shared humanity. This year we explore the joys and challenges of parenthood, building community, gender identity, immigration, mental illness and more.

All events will take place at 7 pm, in the Morrell Meeting Room at Curtis Memorial Library. Free refreshments will be provided and Gulf of Maine will have copies of the author's books for sale. For more information, call 725-5242 x510, or visit www.curtislibrary.com.

Tuesday, August 2, 7:00 pm: Salim Salim, Abdi Nor Iftin, and Kifah Abdulla
Curtis Library Board Member and The Telling Room's Director of Publications Molly McGrath moderates a discussion with these three new Mainers (Salim, from Iraq; Abdi, from Somalia; and Kifah from Iraq), as they each share the role storytelling, writing, poetry and art has played in their exile, immigration to a new home, and their ability to help others understand their journey.
