AQUACULTURE IN SHARED WATERS MEETING SEPT 23

Members of the public are invited to a community meeting, to learn about the recent aquaculture training programming taking place in the midcoast, and to discuss the status, species and techniques being grown in Maine.

The Aquaculture In Shared Waters project has run two training programs in the Harpswell/Brunswick area and attendees will hear about outcomes and lessons learned from participants of that project. Participants in the course and other aquaculture experts will be on hand to answer questions and talk about aquaculture opportunities in this area.

The meeting will be held September 23rd from 5-7pm at the Harpswell Heritage Land Trust, 153 Harpswell Neck Road.

For more information, please contact Rebecca Clark at the Island Institute, 207-594-9209 x 134.

The Aquaculture in Shared Waters project is a National Sea Grant funded program to help prepare fishermen to start an aquaculture venture. Support from this project comes from partnerships between the following organizations: University of Maine School of Marine Sciences, Maine Sea Grant, University of Maine Cooperative Extension, Maine Aquaculture Association, Maine Aquaculture Innovation Center, Coastal Enterprises Inc., and the Island Institute.
